Found this trade token today with my equinox but I can't seem to find anything on it. There is one 25 cent version listed on token website but no photos. Anyone have any more info on this and approximate time period these were used? Thanks! 20180328_172155.jpg 20180328_172206.jpg

I did see that phone book page. Couldn't find any info on the restaurant. Also 1940 seems way to modern for a 2 1/2 cent trade token don't you think??

I noticed this was your very first post - so, Welcome Aboard Rnkrsh! You didn't list your state (or country) in your profile. So, you might consider jumping over to Sub-Forums: Select Your Area.... and selecting location information (i.e., clubs, hunts, finds, legends, maps, etc.) directly related to your state (or country). You might also consider adding your state (or country) to your displayed profile (SETTINGS -> EDIT PROFILE) so if you ask a question, etc. - people may have more success helping you (if necessary)...

Your token is listed (along with 5¢ and 25¢ denominations) in the NETCC Nebraska Trade Tokens book. The book suggests the business was going ca. 1944. No, that is not too new for a 2½¢ token - that denomination was used primarily in pool halls into the 1950s. Please post your pics on tokencatalog.com

Thanks for the info. I don't know how to post pics there but I will look into it.

Seems odd to me that anyone would use a 2 1/2 cent trade token in 1950 when a single beer cost around $0.65 lol. That token would be worth like one sip!

Was beer really that expensive in 1950 Nebraska? My local bar was still serving $.25 draft beers in 1980. I remember $.10 beers on base in the '70's. Just 3.2 stuff, but, hey.....it was a beer! :occasion14:

Lol not really sure as I was born in 1980. O googled average price of a beer at that time and that's what I got. I will have to look at some old newspapers from the time in the archives and see what I can find. I am curious now what the actual costs where here.

It would be tough to redeem it with no 1/2 pennies. But it could have been a teaser where they rounded it up or down. Definitely odd

The 2½¢ denomination was often used in pool halls where it cost 2 cues for a nickel to play.
