I bought this hammer at an estate sale this weekend. I thought it looks pretty cool. I dont really know anything about it. The head is very unusual. Can anyone tell me how old it is, and what it was used for (besides the obvious)? The hammer is marked C.S. Coburne & Co. 9/16 (it's hard to make out, I'm not sure about the first initials of the makers name). Thanks!

I believe what you have is an Upholsterers hammer. Could be from the 30s. They cost $2.30 in the 30s, very expensive!
