Went back to the spot that gave up an 1833 hard times token a couple of weeks back. Really wet and muddy, so I was hoping for some deep coins. Only got 1 coin in an hour of detecting, but it's a good one. Looks to be an 1866 or 1867 shield nickel, my first one! Thanks to PinFire for that ID by pointing out the rays on the reverse!

This boy was deep! Rang up as a 53 and 8 inches down, so I knew I had to dig it. It ended up being a good 10 inches down and probably more than that. Came out of the ground toasted and muddy, so I had to rinse it in a puddle to figure out what it was. I can't believe I found a shield nickel before finding a V nickel. Weird!
