So my wife got me a Bounty Hunter IV for Christmas. I figured a good starting place would be two local playgrounds.

So what do you guys do with your finds? Specifically jewelry? I need to do some more reading here how to check what I actually found. Like if it's a gold ring and what k... Etc... I am not certain on the ring. The one dirty nickel is a 2005 Liberty nickel with the seashore theme on the back. The rest I think is nothing major.

It was a great first time and I think I am hooked.

Here are the pics!

Ring looks legit! Can you get a closeup of the stamp in the inside?

If you found a "real" ring on your first hunt and you only "think" you're hooked, you should probably get checked to see if you have a pulse!!

Welcome to your newest addiction.

Looks like a gold ring, can't read the stamps in the pics. Take it to a local jewelry store and have them check the marks and stones, mine do it for free and you can get a lesson on jewels and jewelry at the same time.

Yup...A magnifier, silver and gold acids, a scale, a diamond tester.....etc........... lol. Oh yes all the tools you'll need to make sure the spoils you find are real. i have run into alot of stamped jewelry that have been fake. good luck on your next hunt.

You can put that ring back in the wife's jewelry box. :tongue3: Congrats on the nice hunt. It took me about 14 months to find real gold. A find like that will make this more of an obsession rather than simply a hobby. That detector has almost paid for itself already. Congrats on a great 1st hunt.

Funny thing is that the ring was a perfect fit on her finger. It was towards the end of our hunt and she was along. I showed it to her and she was like ok I am now a believer... Lol... But she said the ring is not her tastes in jewelry.

I got a magnifying glass and can confirm that the ring is stamped KOREA. Also there is a 9 and a 0 stamped on each side of the band. So I guess I will take this in and see what they can tell me about it. I am thinking it might be gold plated. Thank so much for the warm welcomes to the forum.

Just as a final update... I took the ring in and had it looked at. Turns out it is gold plated and the stone was CZ. Maybe I will have better luck next time. I can't wait to find another one. The excitement was worth it all. lol.
