The title is a little mis-leading as we have already finished the Roman Site in this field but we are gridding the rest of it in hope for the odd hammered. We did 6 hours today but no silver showed up other than a very black 1926 Sixpence. Maybe next time...

Nice Livery Button (Design I need)
2 Jettons
Tudor Book Clasp
2 Medieval Thimbles
Crotal Bell
Leather Mount
Watch Winder
6d Cooperative Token
Spur Bit
Massive Sapphire:thumbsup:

Are those rings at the top of the first pic from 17th century cloth or fabric buttons? I find those all the time over here, and used to think they were junk until a friend told me they were frames to early buttons.

Lots of interesting finds there!

The sapphire is one thing that stands out, is there metal attached or eyeball find? Also, the item with '12' on it, any ideas?

Even on the few hunts when you and your dad don't find silver, you guys still make some very cool finds! :occasion14:

Love the toy gun, the crotal bell, that beautiful oval cut blue glass and this piece.

Best of luck to you guys this weekend,
Dave

Gotta love the humble sixpence ! I too think the fleur de lis piece is nice , and massive sapphires are always welcome - seriously

We get those 'ring things'(as we call them) everywhere we go. They vary in size, material & age. Some are Roman Military fittings, some medieval horse harness rings, other the buttons you mention. However, these are only some of the uses & I'm sure there are plenty more we don't know.

Its a eyes only 'glass' piece. (not metal)

Oh here I thought you'd be retiring on the sale of the sapphire proceeds. :)

Liking the Tailwagger's tag, interesting history to the medallion.

Nice lot of finds, liking the thimbles and bell.

The disc with 12 on both sides is a mystery, as it has not fittings that I can see, so maybe a crude counter??
