This year has been by far the most challenging year to find any new sites that have not been pounded to death in my 5 years of hunting. I have hunted and hunted but CT really seems to be drying out.

I really feel sorry for those that get into cellar hole hunting in the future as we have really cleaned out these places.

After much hiking & 2 unproductive sites, the last site of the day produced the copper (my 4th this year) & gilted button on the slope of a hill on the back side. The copper is an 1846 Small Date Variety.

The other finds came from the site where I got my colonial bayonet clip.

Still looking for my 1st Colonial copper for the year.

HH!
Roger

I have been hunting for five years as well, and like you my spots are pretty much dried up. Time to look for more. You did make some nice finds though, nice large cent and heel plate!

I'd love to dig that copper, the ones I dug around here aren't as nice. Sorry to hear about the limited targets and diminishing sites. I try to mix it up, do all kinds of detecting. Cellar holes in Ohio are way different than the ones on the East Coast.

We all get to that point where all of our spots seem to dry up... Be patient, work hard and a new ones will eventually present themselves. Looks like you did well at the old one, though!
