Nice collection, thanks for sharing. Love the style and integrity that used to go into making relic-age items. very cool.

Nice display MW, love them bottles! Do you have any pontiled?
I lost half my collection when I was a teen, shelf came crashing down, too much glass weight. I had some nice gallon-sized embossed blob top beers, I haven't seen any since then.

Thanks for the comments guys. FFD I have only found 5 whole pontil bottles in 20 years of hunting. In the last picture the teal green bottle to the right is a pontil. It's pretty rare to find them here because the town didn't get started until the 1850's.

Wow, an enviable collection MW. :hello2: Very nice. Do you know what the smaller brown bottles in the first pic were used for? I love the little ink bottles....what a cool relic of a time gone by.

It is a bit sad to think this era will be known for all the lousy plastic bottles we left behind. :tongue3:

Lovely bottles, such a variety of colors and shapes.

HH
p.s. One last question....who gets to dust them all? :icon_scratch: :laughing7:

Awesome collection! Laughing what Anne asked about who dusts them all...it's a pain to me.

Anne, the three stoneware bottles in the first picture on the left are master inks and they are from the same company in England. The smaller might be an ink bottle but I don't know for sure. Ink bottles are one of the common bottles that I have found and have over 60 of them. Maybe i'll try and round them up for a picture. As for who dusts them I do because it makes me nervous when she touches them, but she does it once in a while just to get a rise out of me.LOL.

Thanks for answering my questions, MW. :icon_thumright: Those smaller tan bottles have an interesting patina. I'd be curious to know how they make them...firing and glaze, etc. Unique!

MW, I found the pics of that light colored bottle fragment I had mentioned to you. Could this have been an ink bottle?

I'm not an expert on stoneware inks, but it looks like it could of been one. Too bad it's broken because it would of been a really nice one.

MW, regarding your pie bird in pic 2....here is one in action.

Before and after shots. I still think cutting slits works just as well and actually less hassle. :dontknow: Not nearly as cute though. :laughing7: I will try it again before passing final judgement.
