Was hunting around the low tide line today when I saw this poking up between the pebbles.
Thought it was a cat food can pull tab at first (alot of those around here), picked it up - Sterling and 18K ring! 9.4 grams

Update: Well what I first thought was a cat food can pull tab, then thought was a silver and 18k ring,
I can now confirm is actually an 18k and 95% platinum ring! Upon closer inspection I noticed that the '925'
stamp is infact a '950' stamp for 95% platinum - which would also explain the ring's impressive weight of 9.4 grams
despite its relatively small size. Platinum is much denser than silver and would explain the ring's weight. I also tested
the ring with acid and there was no reaction - proving it is not a silver ring but something much more resilient to
corrosion. The black lines between the gold and platinum, which I initially thought was silver tarnish, are infact black enamel.
So cool!

I just noticed something - the ring is NOT stamped '18K 925' it's stamped '18K 950'. Could the '950' mean 95% silver... or could the '950' mean Platinum?! ? Now I'm confused as to what this ring is made of. Clearly the middle two bands on the ring are the 18K, but is this '950' a silver stamp or a platinum stamp? One thing that got me suspicious of this thing possibly being platinum is although very small the ring weighs a hefty 9.4 grams - would a tiny silver ring weigh that much, even if it had a little 18k gold in it?

950 is platinum, major bonus. Also makes sense 18k with plat. instead of 18k with silver.

Dam you Pirate!! Nice Save!!

Nothing better than having the day off from work only to find something worth more than your daily wage,
is tax free, shiny, fits your finger, and says, 'yes I can afford to own a platinum pinky ring.' The pirates had the life,
plundering a lifetime's wages in a few hours. Every time I find something like this I feel similar to how they must have
felt - the feeling of 'I just found in one second what would normally require anyone else several days of work to earn'.

I was surprised myself as this is the first platinum ring I ever found so I was not familiar at first with the marking. I thought it was just a common sterling stamp until I looked closer and saw it actually said '950' a platinum stamp! First one I've ever seen in my treasure hunting adventures! :headbang:
