I took the dogs for a walk yesterday along the bike/walking path running along the river. I decided to stop at one of my favorite old family cemeteries nearby.
Ever research the names you see on very old headstones ? Normally you find very little, but once and a while you'll find some interesting history and few facts of the person below it.
Here are a couple of pics I took of my daughter at an old pioneer cemetery on a hot summer afternoon in 2013.
The large oak tree she's standing next to is well over 200 years old and the carved 'heart shaped' pink granite head stone is in memory of a 15 year old boy who died in 1901.
After the 'adventure' she asked me, "to never take her on a road trip to a cemetery again"!
