Thanks Mike, DFX I will review this more, I have recently had others say the same thing, Whites was one of the first machines I owned other then my first Radio Shack machine, loved that that 4000 D series 3, got me alot of finds and hours into it and Whites are built like a BSH never gave me issues.

My Explorer detects circles around my DFX, both within that price range. Your results may vary.

Yeah your still safe that's why I posted it thinking the ATP for this, as it could be a beach.. all of what I mention.

I think the ATP is the best value in the market. From what I read, its fine in dry salt sand, debatable in slightly wet sand if you know how to work it, and not worth the effort in the wet.
Remember guys, he said 800 tops.

disclaimer: I have never swung a ATP at the beach.

I'll say an Explorer SE Pro (or regular with the pro coil). It goes deep, does great in wet or dry sand (saltwater included), crazy discrimination, and gives the most info on a target then anything else out there (not including other Minelabs (E-Trac/CTX). Excellent range of available coils, 'normal' headphone jack, multiple frequency, and proven performer in different hunting scenarios.

Other then it being heavier, and requires patience with the learning curve, I can't say anything bad about the Explorer.
