Some may think this sick, but when you have 1000 men who all think and work as brothers things can get a little weird. A number of years back (Before Political correctness ) 2 local fire houses had a rivalry, many childless pranks to see who could out due each other. One day a cop (in on the prank) shows up at the station with 2 dozen Dunkin Donuts and tells the boss a local block watch meeting didn't need them all. Donuts were set on the table and within no time the 9 guys on duty had cleaned out the box's. Late that nite a Currier delivered a envelope inside was a picture of 9 men (no faces shown) bent over with 9 donuts stuck in their BUT"s Every guy swore they didn't eat a Do nut. This went across the department like wild fire. Let's put it this way those 9 guy's had plenty nick names after that.
To add to this 10 years later, one of our Battalion chiefs Son was stationed on the U.S. Enterprise in Hawaii and was asked if he would mind sailing to the mainland with his son. On board he was asked if he would like to talk to anyone in command He said the Chaplin cause if anyone had the news on this ship it would be he. After introducing himself and telling him where he was from The first thing from the Chaplin was "Tell me about the Donuts. Even 6000 miles away and 10 years later no one has been able to top this one
