50 degree weather today and decided to detect while the going was good. At a local school site found 20 pennies (1 1951 wheat cent IMG_0072.jpg IMG_0071.jpg IMG_0073.jpg IMG_0074.jpg s-l1600.jpg s-l16003.jpg s-l16002.jpg ), 1 nickel, 11 dimes, 3 quarters, an old key, a Disney token, an old Winchester Repeater No. 12 shot shell (circa 1896-1938), and a vintage 1920's House of Tre-Jur Sampler New York City Ladies Compact. Upon opening, although the mirror was broken, I found a 1920 wheat cent. Have included 3 photos of what it originally looked like.

Cool compact, exciting to find a coin inside of it even if it's just a wheatie. I have yet to find any sort of container with a coin inside.

IMG_0080.jpg IMG_0081.jpg Finding that penny inside was a big surprise! Must of been brand new when it was put in as it cleaned up pretty well

Nice job. I have yet to find a compact with a coin in it. Mine usually have whats left of the crusty "war paint" inside.

As I read the heading of your thread, I want to cry.....It's -20 Degrees here with the wind-chill, approx. -45 degrees. Very tough hunting conditions :BangHead:

Nice finds, I once found a compact / lock-it just like yours - though mine had hair inside. Often wonder if it was from a loved one that passed away? ?

WTG 2M. You certainly had plenty of targets to dig. I often find compacts and always hope there is a coin or 2 inside. I did pull an old one that had 4 wheats in it.
