PS. My point was, I find over 400 buttons every 6 months & still only got 1. I agree very unusual.

Some nice finds. I see a few ship buttons out there on the web that claim to be antique, like this one. But no real details about them.

It is a Jacksonian era button with no relation to military use...100% strictly civilian while it is not a common button, they are not very rare. You typically see other design more commonly found, but the ship is found frequently as well. I've seen a few dug and have seen a few dozen posted online. I've dug a few as well but never the ship.
