In other words can you add a program call trashy Park, . ball field 1 , regional Park, north school. Ect. How may different programs can you put into it in addition to the far try preset programs?

Yes you can add your own programs and name them and customize them anyway you like. I'm not sure on the exact number but you will never run out of space.

One more question can you make programs with out a computer directly from the machine. All I have is an IPad and phone. No PC. Or can you write the programs for on the machine it's self?

Phil, I have been reading this forum faithfully since I found it and the thing I have decided is this: metal detectors are like cars. You have loyal "drivers" who will use nothing but what they own and everyone else has inferior machines. Read all the reviews and decide what you need and want from a detector. Getting out and using it correctly is probably the biggest part of the hobby. Good luck!

I love my V3i!! But its a Camaro/Mustang thing. You pick a brand and learn that detector. When you become one with the detector the finds will put you on cloud nine.

All programs are done directly on the MD. There is no computer interface for the V3i.

I like the way you can make or customize programs 100X more than with my Etrac. No doubt. I start with a common program on it and start modding the tones, sweet speed from the filters, volumes, settings, frequencies used, how I want the info to read out, the size of the icons, etc etc etc....

and then I give them cool names
!

From every thing I have read, videos I have watched and info from all the questions I have asked I am pretty convinced that the V3i is going to be my best bet. Being deaf and with cochlear implants and very little residual hearing left and the need for all the visuals I can get with about everything being customizable I think this is the machine I am looking for. I started out in the mid eighties with a fisher 1200 something. Traded for a CZ5 later then got into the gold prospecting with the fisher Gold Bug and recently purchased a Garrett Ace 350 which does not work for me now since I am mostly deaf. I am convinced that being deaf I still have enough hearing left that with all the features of the V3I I can master the programming to a point I can still enjoy the hobby. Thanks guy for all the input. Got a few more questions I am going to post.

You have to write the programs directly on the machine. The v3i does not have the ability to interface with a computer like the etrac.

You have made a fine choice! That machine will meet your needs plus add hours of entertainment programming and fiddling with it. Congratulations! H Digs!

Yes, there are! Custom programming and trying new settings is half the fun. Google: Whites V3i Custom Programs and select the links to great websites. H Digs
