Things have been really slow and I have not found anything worth posting recently. Today was the exception. I found a decent amount of interesting things (will post other items later) when I came across this.

Person I bought it from said they found it in the Sierras in 1980. The owner of the property said it was a WWII test bomb. I looked at other test bombs online but it does not look like this. I said I thought it was a art project but person I bought it from pointed out the thread in the tip which looks like where the detonator would go.

Curious what you all think.

Here is another pic. Also, what do you think about painting it?

Very cool ! I bought a similar looking bomb at a tail gait auction , back in the 80's . I stuck it in my front lawn - nose down - 2 weeks later it was stolen . I only paid $15 , but I wish I still had it .

I bought one at a yard sale that looked almost exactly the same except mine still had the detonator. It cost $2 and the guy told me his grandpa used to sneak into a test bombing range from WW II in Texas and find them. He had found several but this was the only one left. There was nothing inside. I sold it on Ebay for around $300 before I thought about shipping it. I took pictures of it and in it to show it was a dud and put on the box " WW II Dummy TEST Bomb" with pictures taped to the side in case someone happened to Xray the box and freaked out. It made it with no trouble. Yours is a great find! I wish I had kept mine.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like it is legit. What do you think about painting it? Guy had it in his garage and it's clean enough that painting it would still work. I cant keep inside so if I dont paint it will rust. Other option is to wipe down with olive oil or wd40.
