Here is one of my 1850s period 63Rd button. The site that this came off had many neat finds. I think the location was an early tavern site, it was near the river, I think there must have been a crossing at this place. Brian C.

This is not as pretty as some of the military buttons I have but this one is my favorite. Baldwin was a clothier in Huntingdon, Pa. It is the only one I have ever seen.

I was looking in the tice book, there are some buttons with M on them, your button could be a Maryland school button,1855-1860, just guessing. Brian C.

up in my part of Michigan we don't get to find to many military buttons like the people down south, but i was very happy when i saw this one come out of the ground

Here's my prized button find...a Civil War Massachusetts Volunteer Militia button, found on April 28, 1985, in a local school playground that was being bulldozed. The dozer had taken off several inches, and the button was another 4 inches down!

Amazing find! Any knowledge of variants, like this lead pewter example? I’ve never seen another one like it. Was told it was the only one found in the US

FYI this style are from sleeve links not freestanding buttons. Go find the other one

Republican Blues civil war period button I found last year. The Republican Blues were a unit out of Savannah, Ga. and have a long history. Made up of mostly upper class people.

Not a button expert, but my favorite ones, other than my military eagles.
First one looks like a Roman soldier. Design is incused. Second is a lovely flower pattern. Both buttons were found on old wagon trail.
