The end of this year marks my first complete season of detecting. I got into the hobby as a teen and sporadically hunted here and there with a couple decent digs. My machine was a top of the line (for back then) fisher CZ. Heck, I didn't even know how to ground balance it! A little frustration set in and soon I started hunting something else instead of coins and relics, lol.
Fast forward 20 years and I find a Fisher f2 on Craigslist for cheap and I figured I'd give the hobby another go. Wasn't long before the addiction began and plugs were dug. A new and better machine I felt was in order since I knew I'd stick with it. Late winter I purchased an F75 and started immediately finding the deeper/older coins the f2 was missing. Silver was also being plucked out of previously hunted sites.
I feel good about the different sites and styles of hunting this season. Went from early-mid 1900's yards and finding lots of wheats and silvers to not so old schools and parks to dig some clad and get even more acclamated to the machine. Any and all settings were used for a long enough time to learn. Then, the biggest curse came along. Two deeper targets that were old and great set off a string of hunts dedicated to listening for whisper signals. This was also very educational and gave up some nice treasures too. I guess when I look back it was an awesome year simply because of what was learned in the field from countless hours of swinging and bugging the crap out of fellow t-netters! They were always patient and willing to give advice and share experiences and some secret settings.
Also want to thank all who post their finds and give support to them as to me this is what inspires us to go out and hit that spot one more time we might think is wiped clean.....or when we just don't feel too spunky to go.
Thanks for looking and good luck to all in 2018!
John.

My personal favorite finds of the year. 1737 KG2, Capped bust half dime, cut spanish silver, seated quarter, first seated coin, first walking liberty half, heel plate. Forgot to add in first barber quarter and 2 cent piece.

Also forgot I'm missing a whopping $6.00 from my clad. My son helped me sort, clean and wrap a couple pennies and dimes and said they were his since he did the work! Lol. Can't argue with that.
