so i have officially gone through almost all 75 cent boxes at my local bank and got down through the pile to older codes on the boxes. they have gradually gotten better to the point where older coins come much more frequent. (including another 1906 IHC) todays 2 boxes held a combined 51 wheats with a substantial amount pre 1940... 17 in total.

The 2 firsts I had today were i got my first king george V penny 1936 :)
and the second is my oldest ender being a 1913 wheat

1913
1915
1918
1923
1924
1927X2
1928
1929X2
1930
1930S
1934
1936X2
1937
1938

along with some good box luck. Cassie and i grabbed a quick burger the other night and in the change came a 1914 wheatie ;)

also been lookin through some half dollars and got a 1980 that might have a small mint damage on the right side

been real busy hopefully got more coming soon

Happy hunting guys

congrats on all the finds. A lot of early date wheats and those George V's are nice finds too - I've still not found any myself yet. My oldest Canadian cent is a '40 George VI.

Re: penny boxes 2 firsts with pics

George the V died in early '36. The new dies from London weren't ready so the RCM
struck a dot under the date to show they were minted in 1937.

The small size of the dot made it fill in quick...and is suspected this happened to only one die.

There are 5 known and worth a few years of tuition -each.

Many have tried to fake them by sticking a blob-dot on, but they eaisly fell off.

Can't hurt to look a little closer.

Re: penny boxes 2 firsts with pics

If you scan it you can tell if the dot is in the right spot with photoshop. (Transparancy layer)

Takes a bit to resize but It's the best for a start.

That would be sweet -not real likely, but sweet.

Put up a scaned pic if you could.

Wow, that's interesting about the George V 36'. Do you know of any good sites that discuss rare Canadian pennies in detail?

Nice finds, I hope that "dot" is the real deal that would be epic!

I will probably fire up my Ryedale tonight, I don't think I have any halves coming until tomorrow.

Re: penny boxes 2 firsts with pics

Here did a little bit more to see if there is a dot, looks like it to me :hello2: The "Bottom text" coin is a scan I'm guessing because it is taken from a perfect above view while AGBlex's coin is taken at an angle. This is not a perfect alignment with the coins but the closet I could get them at.
