charged mercury

I ask because I just did my first amalgam ball and while panning out the end of the small run,, I ended up with a blood red to copper colored amalgam ball, This is odd because I have already Etched the slip, and had no copper in the large amalgam ball.. nothing.. well except a very pretty gold...
