07/02/06 Finds

[bazinga]

I went out and hunted a couple house yards this afternoon. I got $1.45 in clad and 18 wheats and an old Indiana Railroad token, the 2nd one like this I have found.

The wheats are as follows:

1917D
1919
1926
1930
1934D
1936
1938 - 2
1941
1944 - 2
1944D
1945 - 2
1946
1946D
1955D

and one that's too corroded to read the date....

No silver on they day, but there were probably 5 pieces of trash or less on the whole day, so I would call that a success!

Nice day of wheats.

Anyday is a good day when your getting wheats.

The silver was coming.

No trash is a big plus also.

Yeah, I didn't have much trash today at the beach...for a change...but got lots of clad...plus found a $5.00 bill!!! Always a good day without all the trash!!!

Yeah... I haven't started putting them into an album yet, but I'm pretty sure I have everyone except the key dates in the series.... SVDB, 14D, 22 plain, 30somethingD, haha


Thanks for all the kind words everyone! As for discriminating.... well I leave my explorer's screen nearly wide open at -13 IM so that I can hear nearly every signal. Today there really weren't that many bad signals to be found in the yards that I hunted. There were some iron signals, but if it was anywhere near the sound of a coin it was dug up.

Oh it will happen bud! When I first started out I was just like you.... I was just hoping to find the occassional wheat and thought that I would never get tired of them.... over 200 wheats later... well now I'm tired of them, haha.

wow 200 wheat pennies ,,,dang thats awesome,,but im with ya on the silver,,, but wheats are still funner to find than new cents ,, my last 2 old homesites have produced wheats in the teens and twenties ,,but no silver ,, hope the siver starts a flowin for ya

Yeah... I agree that about finding wheats rather than new cents. At least they make you feel like you are on the right path to silver. I hunt lots of home sites and they all tend to bring in a number of wheats, but only about 1 in 5 yields any silver, but when they do yield a silver there is usually another one close by, so I can't complain too much.

Nothing wrong with wheats!! found 2 1914D wheats this year (so far) -- I will take that any day over a rosy -- Watch out for those iffy iron signals -- coins can bounce from top right to top left when they are really deep.
