Today I only hit one bank. One of the tellers there is extremely nice. She recognized me from newspaper articles written on me for my local paper (on my deployment and return), and has been actively saving any silver that comes her way for me. Today she gave me a 1946 silver Rosie and a roll of halfs that yeilded my 1st 40% silver proof (pictured below). She also had a 1934 $100 Federal Note. She allowed me to buy it for face. She runs across these older notes frequently. Is there much market for these? I never really have gotten into currency collecting. Personally I wish I could go back in time and trade it for 400 1932-D washington quarters ;D

Welcome to the 70 club.
That's a lot tougher than any other 40% proof or otherwise to come by.
Congrats!

and thank you for your service!

Congrats on your first 70S. I found my first one last week. Now to just find that 70D.

I also would like to thank you for your service to our country.

I love the 1970S.

I am still out side the circle of 70's since I have found none

Nice score on that 70 proof one of the harder ones to find , that is nice for that teller to save coins for you ... as far as paper money goes I would buy whatever she had ... there are some folks in the paper currency that can very helpful...I looked up the note you found and it looks around to be worth around 125.00 in vf-20 cond. with some of the series going for more $$$.... best thing to do is post a pic in that paper currency forum..

Salute our troops with silver :), Ed

Yep, bank called and gave me a whole bunch of old hundreds, one was worth $1200 dollars...my post is in paper currency your note is worth anywhere from $110-$120 in ok condition

The 1970 Kennedy was a long time coming. Thanks for the support for my military service, as well as the information on the currency collecting and value of my note.

Congrats on the 1970 there BR. I am still waiting on my first for 2009.
