Quarters are probably tougher than dimes because the AG ones are so much more noticeable, sight & sound, especially when they are pure white to the eye. Also quarters circulate more than dimes & halves.

Also, since that state quarter program started in 1999, everybody has been looking at their quarters and thus pulling any silvers that catch their eyes.

Quarters were a big reason I got into CRHing. I found one in my register at work and I was trying to figure out why it felt lighter* and sounded funny. Turns out it was a 1947-D and it was worth a little more than a quarter!

*I know that silver quarters weigh more, but in hand, they feel lighter to me.
