Detector(s) used
Minelab E-Trac, with sunray probe,Minelab SE,Eureka Gold
Hi All:
Had lots to do on Monday so during the errands and grocery run I did a one hour hunt in a heavily worked area. I have worked this myself over the years and within this area there are some of the trashiest spots that even with many other detectors you could just not work it.
I headed to one of the older spots that is trashed and set the E-trac up in an old park setting ,manual sens. of 20, set the iron mask up to be able to toggle back from it to check out signals and started hunting in Iron mask. Just to much trash so over to the park setting. Kept swinging slow and reading all signals and started hitting a few pennies ,new dimes etc.
About 30 minutes and 8 coins I get this strong 12/46 reading, kick over to iron mask and check it also, same. Reads 4" and so I dig it up,it was between several other signals and kinda hard to center out.
Barber dime, in fine shape too. I did not know that it was a semikey or key date until I got home. HAPPY DANCE ,even the wife did a little jog too.
In talking with a collector friend he offered a nice amount on this sight unseen, took pics today and sent them to him,he has all barbers but 5 and he wants this one. Take care all and happy hunting to all. :coffee2:Hardrock

Hi All: I forgot to add that the offer on this is 275.00 firm,(his offer not my ask) what do ya think? grade correct or low? :thumbsup:Hardrock

sweet find...Matt

Congrats on that RARE find. The 1897-O was the first dime I found in the 1800s and I would never sell mine... I am Saving it for my 3 yr old's college fund... As far as grading yours... Hard to tell from the pics, and I am no expert. You may want to send it off for grading...and make sure you do not clean it.
Hope you find many more! :icon_thumleft: :hello2:

Here is a good site that may help you in grading it.
