After I worked off the Honey Do list yesterday I tried to set up more permissions. 2 "no one home" :BangHead: and one yes with a "but, I doubt if you find anything".

My 1st coin "in the easement was a 1963 rosie. Thought that this would be a good omen since the house is on the 1874 map. Not the case though. The soil is so dry I ended the hunt early so as to not make his yard look like a dalmatian. I asked if I could come back after a drenching rain and he agreed, as long as he is home and I ask again at that time. While packing up an 88 yo veteran was walking down the street. We struck up a conversation, I come to find out he lives 2 doors down and his house is also on the 1874 map. He said I could hunt it anytime I wanted. :headbang:

Notables from the 1st permission

I went back to the house where I pulled the 1877 IHP. I dug a couple clad coins but the soil was so dry, Just so I don't bore you with many details I hunted 1 more site and then called it quits for the day.

Saturday's finds

Knowing the soil condition, I decided to go hunt some old closed/re-purposed schools in the area and the practice field in town. At the 1st site I notices some sloppy plugs with dirty pop cans next to the plugs. Boy that burns me up. :-[ I picked up all the trash by those plugs as I came across them on my hunt.

I ended up hunting 4 sites today, pic of finds is below.

Hard to beat last weeks banner find, I almost did not post this, but not every hunt is going to "Great" hunt.

As always, hope ya'll got out and swung the coil this weekend. :metaldetector:

Love this hobby!

I'll give you a big thumbs up just for not dotting the guys yard with brown patches:thumbsup:

Great digs Loco, yes it's hard to beat a banner hunt but I feel sure with your kind of dedication its just a matter of time. Glad you got out ( and took care of that list)

Way to go Sarge... nice when permissions pile up

Nice silver. Great dedication fixing someone else's mess. I've been going to the same spot for 2 weeks and the last couple of times my holes have been dug back up and left unfilled, ticking me off when I end up filling a hole for the third time. I don't understand why this is happening unless someone wants to give us dirt fishers a bad name. I spent the first hour today going over the entire field and re-filling. Nobody is going to make me look bad(I do that well enough:laughing7:).

I have experienced this before in some of the farm feilds we hunt. I think it is skunks or some other animal that is digging grubs. They will take the path of least resistance.

Congratulations on the multi-day finds!

Today, I had to fill in holes (not in my usual hunting area) from other "metal detectorists", not happy!

My philosophy is 20% finding target, 20% recovering the target and 60% making the recovery area invisible to the outside world! I detect mostly historical areas and that last 60% is why my reputation is so good!

I have seen that before, I got a skunk around my yard that does it, but he doesn't pull the whole plug out. I usually have a rabbit family in the field with me, but who knows what comes out at night.

"Hard to beat last weeks banner find, I almost did not post this, but not every hunt is going to "Great" hunt."

Some days it's Heineken and steak...some days it is PBR and potted meat!
Nothing wrong with the finds LD...you're just still flying from the banner hunt!

silver and a pile of clad......yes sir Ill take that!

What I wouldn't do for some rain. It's been many weeks since a good drenching. I'm begining to notice some dead plugs of mine so gonna stay away till we get some good rain.

Your silver count is very close to mine as well. Congrats

I like it!!! That dime looks to be in great shape!!!:icon_thumright:

I began this journey last May, the 1st season (8 mo.s) I pulled 20. Since it's early August, I am 6 ahead of last seasons total with a few more months for coin shooting. Hope to hit 40. That's just about 1 a weekend before the end of December. Whatever the final count, it's been a blast hunting and finding them.

Nice finds! Congrats! Great score on permission too!

Nice hunt LD. I managed to NOT find any silver coins over the weekend, so that Rosie look good to me.

So you got a banner last week and a Rosie this week! That's problem with doing a good job, it is hard to repeat.

After Smittyman and I returned from hunting in Philly, and finding killer coins, it was hard to go back to Rosies and Mercs! I try to convince myself that I enjoy the hunt and it's not the treasure that I am after. But it's a tough sell, really tough sell.

Congrats and good luck on your new permissions!

It's a tough sell, but I have only so much time to dedicate to he obsession this time of year. If I can't hit permissions due to the soil conditions, I am still getting out to dirt fish somewhere. :metaldetector: Sort of like those 2 old buzzards, Patience My @ss, I'm gonna kill something". I have already decided to do some water detecting this weekend if the soil is too dry. I am also a realist. :coffee2: It took me about 800 hours of detecting to find that coin. The clock is reset and I am at hour 7. The fire still burns and if your not out putting the time in, you're not going to find the next bucket lister. :headbang:

Looks like you had good hunt!!

You still got a silver and that's always good, you also got another permission and yard you didn't finish.
