1 Unknown at revolutionary site never hunted

I put both pieces with a musketball to show size of them, could anyone give me any idea The one piece which looks like a plug was around the same depth as the muskets, around 7.5 inches. I think it is a cannon plug to keep the wick inside dry but I don't know. That is why I think it is a Whazit

Cool finds...Cant wait to see what else you find there. Neat that its never been hunted before so you should turn up alot !

It looks like the Plug out of an exploding cannon ball, they were filled with gunpowder to explode on impact. Or maybe the plug out of an early hand granade. At leas that is what it looks like to me.
