Ask for halves at every branch too - you'll make out much better silver-wise in the long run! Good luck!

HH,

$ilver$urfer :hello:

Silver Surfer is right about the half dollars. Do dimes but make sure to do half dollars. Even ask for the large dollar coins. I do that and sometimes walk out with bags of Ikes. There are usually no silver Ikes in them but you never know. Oh and be careful with the amount of money you are withdrawing and depositing in your account. There is a little known law on the books that almost got me in trouble. It happened a couple of years ago and I wrote a big thread about my experience of being investigated. Just be informed... $10,000 is right at the amount that raises red flags.

I'll check for halves too but I've had almost no luck with them in the past. I've withdrawn smaller amounts over the last two months.

I always ask in this order:
1 Halves
2 Dimes
3 Pennies

That limits the chance that you stopped there for nothing.

I counted what I bought and I came up just short of $10,000 in dimes. I already know I have one solid roll of silver Kennedy's (3x90% and 17x40%) and 5 boxes of 2011d dimes and so that is good and bad so far but I can't wait to get going on the rolls. I picked up $480 in halves and $9830 in dimes plus $400 in nickels and $75 in cents just for fun. 2364 total rolls! I'll post results when I finish with all this.

Great job Bobert, good luck and keep us posted.

HH Dave

Everything is searched, about half is dumped, and my totals are tallied!

Halves: Skunk on every roll except one which was solid silver Kennedy’s (90% x3 and 40% x17).

Dimes: 41 silver US dimes including 1937s, 1939d, and 1944 Mercury dimes
5 Canadian 80%
1 Canadian 50%
47 total silver dimes
1968s, 1971s, and 1978s proofs
1996w
71 non silver Canadians
5 other foreign coins
2009p x2
2009d

I edge search dimes but I look for thicker wider rims and that’s how I found the proofs and 1996w. It surprises me that I picked those out. A lot of the silver Roosies were 1964d but I did find a 1947 and a 1950 which were both hole fillers. I now only need 13 silver Roosies to complete the set from circulation.

Nickels: 1 war nickel (1943p)
3 Buffalos (dateless, 1936, 1937)
1941 large s
2001s proof
1989p cud
1 pre 1982 Canadian
3 non Canadian foreign
2009p x2
2009d x2
Cents: 21 LWC including 1919 and 1939
1953 Canadian

My goal was to see how much silver I could find and I am happy with just under 7 total ounces. It was frustrating to get 5 boxes of solid 2011d dimes and 3 boxes of dimes that contained a lot of marked coins which was clearly searched but there is always something to find while CRH and it is a fun hobby. There are 90+ year old coins, solid rolls of silver half dollars, and even 1996w dimes out there. Thanks for reading!

looks like you had a successfull hunt with a nice assortment of finds.

HH in 2012 :)
