I got out for 1.5 hours yesterday. the lake was just a little choppy so I put on my boots and stayed close to shore. my sealskin socks failed miserably, not only were my feet soaked but cold too. I dug alot of barbed wire fence, but I did manage a few decent finds. one was a ramrod thimble with part of the ramrod in it, an iron piece that had a spring on the backside ?,one tiny sinker, and another unknown iron piece.

Seal skin socks huh, my Mom used to make me put bread sacks over my socks then put my boots on. Feet still got cold but they stayed dry.

seal skins are supposed to be like goretex, HA I say.

leslie, I actually like the ramrod thimble. that means that at least once a muzzleloader was on that beach. and now for the rest of it please.
