As usual it's been a while since my last post, thought I would share some of my lake finds from the past six weeks. really don't have a nice hunting story to share on most of these, except for three of them. Over labor day I went to visit my parents, my dad sugested that I might throw my detector in since the lake near their house in west-central Oklahoma is low and he was pretty sure no one has been out there with a detector. One of his coffee shop buddies runs the golf course there and has never seen anyone hunting the beaches with a detector. after hunting them I would have to agree, lots of quarters and not deep. That makes me think no one has been there. Anyway after about an hour of digging a good amount of change I flipped out a .36 carat marquese diamond in 14k. that was a good morning hunt when I really wasn't planning on going at all that weekend.
One of the days here at the local lake I was hunting one of the old party beaches with an older gentleman that I see from time to time hunting the same areas I do. He was telling me about the places people went to back when he was in his early 20's {he's 71 now}. We really weren't finding much a few wheats when he found a nice white gold band. It was just a few minutes after that I dug up a 1946 class ring. We hunted for anouther couple hours or so finding a few more coins. I had had about all I could stand, I worked the night before and had been up for about 22 hours. As we were headed back to truck I moved up a bit higher on the beach, dug some pulltabs and then flipped over a shovel of sand and there lay a white gold ring with 22 diamonds. Can't repeat what I said when I saw that { OH SH**}.
there is also the rest of the gold rings I've dug in the last six weeks, it's been a good summer for lake hunting and now the weather has gotten better. So look for anouther post in a month or so with more goddies, I find on average 2 or 3 gold rings a week.
