We spent 4 hours completely gridding 2 new Game Strips by a spinney & pond. Game Strip no.4 before lunch took 3 hours & no.5 took 1 hour & was a blank.
Game Strip no.4 surprised us, with my first find being a bit of Roman pottery, not a great sign on its own but I later saw about 6 bits. Cru'dad got the cut qrter hammered after 25 mins & later the only Scrappy of the day. I got the brooch which sealed our thoughts that we have discovered a previously unknown Roman settlement. I think we are right on the edge of it & the rest is under the growing Wheat. We had plenty of old lead, but not that much nails. I suspect it will be a small low yield one like the other nearby one, but if we get 1 silver after harvest I will be happy.
I look forward to confirming our suspicions & putting another unknown site on the map. Just goes to show what blind hunting can sometimes lead to.

1 Scrappy - Tectricus II
Broken Jetton
18th C Horse Harness Strap Guide
1st C AD Roman Fibula (Brooch)
Mule Groat of Mary (Obv) & Mary & Philip (Rev) - Very poor condition like most of this period.
Henry III Cut Qrter (Gilbert of Canterbury)

We now have a new May record of 17 hammered beating the previous record of 12!

Wow!!! I always enjoy your posts and seeing your finds!!! Congrats!!

So many small unknown sites everywhere. You need to stumble over them, otherwise you would never detect there...
I like to see the TetricusII, looks like one of our barbarious coins from the hoarde.

Congrats on the new record!

Nice finds and great outlook for a future hunt. I had to look up what a "Spinney" is, that's one I never heard here in the states...

Yes, a small group of trees, like a copse.
