Here is the Mountain
as it appeared in 1938
From the River road
at the Entrance to
the Dauphin Narrows.

000iii.webpIssac Turns Stopped his Work Often back then
to gaze above the Mountain a short distance above his Rockville Home.

Here is the Mountain as it appeared Recently
From the River Road
(aka Front Street Now)
in approximately the same spot

Great story Jeff, I used to trout fish Clarks Creek right near there years ago. My In-Laws lived in Emigsville near York. Nice area!

This can't be that hard to find? :)

I don't know where they would have Kept him at Fort Hunter where he could have seen Spooky Mtn.
Unless in the Dead of Winter the Mountain is visible
Of course they have to be talking c200 Years ago,
so perhaps trees were scarce then. I Don't know if there is a Large Rock Shoulder on the Mountain
that can be seen from ft hunter Either
but Could be.

I wonder though if he meant in his Mind, when he said he could see the rock on the Mountain

There is a good chance that the mountain had been clear cut at that time.
