Found this earring today at a local playground. My first good find! The Gold Bug DP definitely does it's job in finding that yellow stuff. Stamped on the back is 14K and another notation I can't quite make out. Maybe HIY or just H|Y, i'm not sure. Anyway, there are 14 clear stones in it as well. What are the odds that these are diamonds? Do people put anything else in gold? Where can I take this to get looked at and/or sell it for maximum value? Thanks for looking! So excited!

WTG NICE FIND:icon_thumleft::icon_thumleft:

Local jewelry shop would be the place to go. Don't tell them you found it. Say its a dead relative's and ask if you can have it appraised or at least have the authenticity of the stones checked. There would be no other clear stone put into a gold setting. The gold is the right carat for holding gemstones. Anything more pure is too soft and there would be a greater risk of losing the stones because of that.

Jewlers would just give you the gold melt down price and nothing for the diamonds. Prob better off selling it on ebay. Put the weight in the posting too. GL Nice find...

I've found maybe a half dozen or so of that type gold earring, most 14k, and have yet to have the stones turn put to be diamond But I have seen some posted here with real stones, so it is possible, but not likely.

Nice find verbalexost!

Generally real diamonds are in 14k or higher..... Does not mean you have real ones though, but your chances are good. I'd take it to a jeweler that has a diamond and gold tester...
Keep @ it and HH !!

Or, you can have one ear pierced and wear it. Heck, these days you could get your nose pierced and wear it there without many even noticing. LOL Super nice find.
