In a ploughed field in England ;)

I read your profile silly. I meant...rocky area, in a suburban park, in the woods, construction site in a city, etc.

Can't imagine there are too many areas left in England which would yield such old artifacts. But yes, certainly the rural areas surrounding towns and cities might be the last of the sources.

There are plenty of fields full of stuff. Its not in town's were stuff in the UK is found. Its in the fields they worked/cropped. They were quite house proud & would sweep the floors & gather the rubbish up (with coins etc), put it in a cart & dump it on the fields. Archeologists have excuvated whole medieval villiages & only found 1 or 2 gold coins & a hand full of silver. However there are tons along footpaths, farmed fields, fair sites, markets etc...

Amazing find! :o

I am glad I am in one of the oldest parts of America, but I can't imagine hunting with the possibility of finding things as old as you guys. To think that medal has been waiting for you to find it for the last (approx) 600-700 years. Since before the U.S. even was.

Truely a one of a kind find! CONGRATS!
