15 WOT are X-12 ?

I was once a dealer and I bought two WOTs, one for me and the other for my friend. I didn't like how it separated signals and it never found any thing that my old Explorer with the 10" coil could not have found so I sold it but my friend still has his. I ordered three Platapus and kept the hotest one and it did find me the deepest mercury dime ever but after paying IRS one year, money got tight and I sold it, wish I still had it. I now have a 14" round excelerator and it separates great and covers alot of ground but yet it has not found anything that my 11" coil on the E-Trac could not find. I might sell this 14" and try that 15X18. Never have used the X-12. Happy Trails 2 U..

I have 3 of the WOT coils, one hard wired on an Excal, one hardwired on a custom waterproofed Sovereign GT for use in the surf and another for my land Sovereign GT. I love them, found a lot with them, they go deeper then the stock 10 inch coils, cover a lot more area with each sweep, and mine are hot coils. They will sound off before the coil is physically over the target if it is not buried real deap which the stock coils don't do........I have no problem with the target seperation, am able to pinpoint in playgrounds with multiple targets under the coil, but I also have a lot of experience using the WOT.

I will hunt with a WOT over the stock coil any day, can't even stand to see the 10 inch coil on my detectors any more.

There is a point which you should consider, bigger coils are more prone to interference. They are also affected more by mineralised ground, the smaller coil will handle the mineralisation better and sometimes go deeper. The main advantage of the bigger coil is more ground coverage because it covers a bigger area per sweep. I have the Platypus coil, and the Wot coil which I use on my Etrac and Explorer. I also had the original Wot coil on my Sovereign. Using the Wot coil on the beach in dry sand I have recovered some very deep targets, but down by the waters edge the depth capabilities drop off significantly. The Platypus coil in dry sand will go nearly as deep as the Wot coil and at the waters edge will match the Wot coil. I detect at night and when using bigger coils have noticed you are more prone to electrical interference from Eg. lights, alarms etc. Well happy hunting, seeya Neilo

I use my WOT coils in the water of Florida beaches all the time, and I get real good depth with it, and it is very stable. I have seen no interference while hunting at nights on the beaches here, had many night hunts at Daytona Beach with it.

I have dug deep targets with it many times when I was waist deep in the surf....It is my perfered coil for the beach including the water......The soil conditions in Australia are different then here in Florida and that may be why you have different results on depth.....

What does WOT stand for? I am an old treasure hunter back in them days we used only one coil so I have a lot to learn in this modern world!

WOT coil is made by Coiltek, Coiltek use to make all of Minelabs coils, when Minelab started making their own Coiltek turned to after market coils...

i have the plat, and the WOT, both go deep and is quiet on the beach,i thought wot meant wide orange thing?

" Wonderful Orange Thing " is how it is listed on dealers sites.......

Coil cover will not make any differece in the sensitivity, only problem with coil cover is if you let it build up with black sand, then it isn't the sensitivity that is affected but rather it becomes unstable.

I do not use a coil cover on mine here in Central Florida, we have no rocks and sand is very fine, farther south in Florida I do as they have more rocks and large shells....
