The Jones Falls is a 17.9-mile-long stream in Maryland. It is impounded to create Lake Roland before running through the city of Baltimore and finally emptying into the Baltimore Inner Harbor.

the Murder took Place in East Baltimore, So the Money was probably Thrown in
somewhere in that area.

Being such a Long area, it could have been thrown in Anywhere,
But due to over 140 years of water action some movement most likely happened.

The Basin ? if that helps

more detailed
the box could contain over 400 Pieces of Silver quarter Size & Larger.
That's allot of Weight. if sunk into air free mud, there is a chance the tin box could be
still there and intact.
