My stepfather was kind enough to give me two big jars of very old foreign coins that he has had kicking around for a couple of decades. Imagine my shock when I saw this! Alas it rings up as a 16 on the Nox 800 (as opposed to a 33 for a silver Washington quarter). It's also quite thick (as thick as a quarter) and I believe these coins are very thin...another giveaway. Someday I will find the real thing! Oh well...I got my thrill for the day! I believe he must have gotten it in a lot from a coin store many years ago and had forgotten about it. Dang!

Also now seeing some tiny writing on the edge of the coin using a loop. Doesn't look like it says copy or reproduction, so it's probably the name of the manufacturer. So cruel that they make these! :BangHead:

Dang. That would have been a find of a lifetime!

Wow ... close but no Cigar !
A 1652 Pine Tree Shilling is a "Holy Grail" find for sure.
You only see one or maybe two found a year in all the forums.
Haven’t seen the shilling on here since I got mine around 3 1/2 years ago

Either way that’s a heart stopper!!

Now you have one to enjoy and show but not worry about its being stolen!
