I took a close up so you can get an idea of the shape. Flattened oval shaped and two well defined seams on inside and outside

I’d like to see @GuyToken chime in on this one. I think he finds trade silver all the time although I haven’t seen many posts from him this year.

If it’s silver brooch, then congratulations!

Very Cool!!! Congrats!!! Have You acid tested it?

Very interesting find- Congrats!!

Does look like some type of a ring to me. All the Trade brooches I've seen were built very differently. Most of them are flat, made of thin metal, those that are rounded usually would have a space cut out to hold the pin in place. If this item did indeed have a pin at some point in time, I would expect at least some scratch marks on the area the pin would rub against the ring.

Dunno why it would be silver but it could be from an old thread button.

Agreed, not a Ring Brooch - IMO. Sorry.

Idk looks pretty good with a catfish barb. Honestly I wonder if some had an external pin

2nd magnifier pic, looks like writing or a mark at 9 o'clock position? Also the very first pic at 6 o'clock i see a J and other possible marks/letters.
