1715 foudation, I know one's a button, the other? Military collar tab?

1715 site searched today. The button was first, followed by what looks like a collar tab of some sort (military?). It is worn, but I can seem to make out a 1 and a 7. I knew I had to give you guys a shot at it, because all I'm doing is guessing. Thanks in advance.
Also included, a remnant of some OLD flatware.
