Found my first 1976 S 40% unc. Not many of them out there they came from the blue pack Bicentennial sets. Filled a big hole in my CRH collection

That's an odd one for sure, nice save!

Somehow I think I've found more of the proof variety vs. the business strike silver even though they minted almost 3x as many of the business strikes!
 
Nice save and welcome to the club. Seems to me they were more commonly found a decade ago. Good to see you check it off your list.
 
Nice find. I found one last year and about 140 boxes later, have not found a second one. Still waiting for a 1970.

Red Book has a note about this coin: "Mintage figures for 1976-S silver coins are approximate; many were melted in 1982".
