This is a great time of year on Martha's Vineyard, the crowds are gone and the fields I hit have been cut and won't be growing back in until spring. If we have a mild winter the ground won't freeze up making for some great detecting time. I wanted to try out a larger coil for my AT Gold and this field with close cut grass was perfect for swinging the big coil. I have hunted this location many times with stock coils and have pulled numerous colonial coins. The new coil is noticeably more work to swing but produced many targets 14" - 18" deep. Two thimbles, 2 small skeleton keys, 5 colonial buttons in a two hour hunt. The 1832 large cent was a weak but steady hit and was recover deep at around 18". The 1790 Reale was again a soft hit but kept repeating, I'm guessing it was "14 deep. The performance in depth of the larger coil is something I will enjoy in these types of fields and I plan on revisiting many of them , including the one I recovered the 1787 gold coin from in August this year.
