Is this a coin you found detecting? If so, I vote banner! What kind of help do you need? If you're uncertain if it's genuine, it's worth getting graded and slabbed.

I guess any information on this coin would help. What does banner and slabbed mean?

Hmmm interesting. Can you take pics of it out of the holder? Doesn't look dug but the copper color around the edges is odd

This is the first time I have ever taken it out of the holder. IMG00213-20120711-1627.webpIMG00214-20120711-1627.webp

Take and post a picture of the edge. It may be an electrotype.

Are you yanking our "chain". After 2 years of lurking on this site I can't help but chime in on this thread. You have just posted two of the most collectable coins in US history. You need to have them checked out by a professional and if real have them graded and slabbed then insure them and lock them up in a safe. If you plan on selling them you need to contact the reputable auction houses to get the best audience and most money for them. For your sake I hope they are real. Keep us posted.

I just took these other pics with my Blackberry sorry I don't have a better camera.IMG00222-20120711-1709.webpIMG00230-20120711-1712.webp

I will get this cent checked out by someone to find out if it's worth anything.

Thank you

How did you aquire this?

I don't know what a dug coin means. That means it was dug up in the ground? I inherited this from my Grandfather.

Anymore thoughts about this?

Ok I took and uploaded two pictures of the edge.

I inherited this from my Grandfather.

I dont see a seam indicating a cast or electrotype. I would send it to a certification company to get it authenticated. It could be a five figure coin.

Incredible coin. I think people may be skeptical just simply because you have posted two of the most collectible coins in US history.

Just amazing...

Anyhow... anyone else notice the silver marking at about 7 o'clock on the obverse of the coin? Makes me wonder if it could be a plated specimen?

Just seems to good to be true... if it IS the real deal.... wow..... :headbang:
