Anybody had any experience with the 18 inch Excelerator Coil for the Sovereign. I called Kellyco and they do have them there for the Sovereign. They also have a 16.5 and a 14. I am looking for a large coil to do some open fields and beach stuff. I have already looked at the Coiltek 15 inch WOT and just looking for anyone who may have used the 18 or 16.5 Excelerator.

P.S. is there anyone that knows where you can pick up a 15 inch WOT locally in Florida? Every dealer I call doesn't stock them. There is a guy in Jacksonville that I have called for about 10 different things and he never has anything in stock. He sounds like he is one step away from the Nursing Home so I told him to go ahead a make his reservations because his shop must be the only place he can get conversation by telling customers he doesn't have anything.

Thanks in advance.

Chief, I haven't seen it here in Fla by any local dealers. I got mine for my Sov GT through TonyinCt (TC Metal Detectors). He was out of stock, but had it dropped shipped to my home. Tony is great to work with. by the Way I LOVE the WOT

I had the 15 inch WOT and it is deep. Too deep for me.

For open beach hunting the big coils are a must have in my opinion.

But never try to run your GT with a monster sized coil in trashy areas! They aren't worth a flip in those situations. They simply magnify the masking affect of trash and you miss good targets. This is why some think the 15 inch WOT isn't deep.

For plowed fields with scarce trash and open more wild beach areas the 15 to 18 incher would be great. But for all-purpose hunting you can't beat the stock Tornado coil.

I have a 12" Excellerator coil for my Sov. It does go a bit deeper than the 10 incher (1 or 2 inches), but it sometimes misses a dime, or gives a sort of a swishy sound instead of anything crisp enough to ID well. I wouldn't buy another one.

I think the WOTS are a lot better coil.
