I stopped by my 1800s house permission after work yesterday and hunted for a couple hours. The finds aren't coming like they did when i first started hunting the property but i still dig something interesting every time i hunt there. Yesterday i found a CW cuff button, a WW11 pin, parts of an old watch, a key, a modern bullet which i believe may be a 30-06, a few wheat pennies and a handful of modern coins. I also dug a bunch of iron but i have no idea what it all was so i didn't include them. I may post some of them later on what is it. I was talking to the home owner yesterday and he said he could not believe that i could spend so many hours to just find a few buttons and bullets. lol I told him it never gets old finding something no one else has seen or touched in over 150 years. It seems like hours go by in seconds when i'm MDing. And it takes my mind off of everything else.

Yep, some people look at me funny too, rooting around in the dirt, mud, snow, ice, rain..etc...We love it! Nice finds, Ddf.

Nice finds, and I know how you feel. My kids (who started me on this hobby, by the way) don't completely understand why I spend hours to find relics and coins which don't have value to most people. Like you, I think it's amazing to hold something in my hand that was either hand-made by someone 150-300 years ago, or at least used by them. Keep digging and I hope you find plenty more that makes you smile!

Ben I feel the same way you do when I’m out. Very relaxed and takes my mind off other things. I love finding old stuff no matter what it is. Sometimes after I find something over 100 years old I just stand there for a minute and look around and ask myself how and why would this item be here. Who dropped it? Why were they here? What were they doing? etc. Congrats on all your beautiful saves and take care. Dennis.

Very nice relics, congratulations! :occasion14:

Its always a mystery to me how things end up buried in the ground. At this property I have found coins from at least 4 different countries, Confederate and Union relics, Pennsylvania dutch buttons, a token with naked people on it from the 1950-60s that was used to view "movies". and too many other assorted items to list. You just never know what your'e gonna find next. It is right beside railroad tracks which were part of the Richmond & Petersburg railroad during the CW. There was also a hotel and a train station about a block away from the property from 1840 to 1933 so there has been a lot of activity and people traveling through there over the years.

great post I wonder about that also thats what I love about this hobby well done
