Nice find, congrats! :occasion14:

I think those Phoenix buttons are a pretty bid deal from the couple things I have read about them! Congrats on it and that button looks really cool too! Not sure if it came out of the ground like that or if it's been cleaned / tumbled but I like how it looks! Excellent!

Not cleaned or tumbled the river was hard on it

Went back to the spot where I found that button. 1857 seated quarter, 1944 Walker, toe tap and a few fired musket balls.

Can’t see the date in that photo but you can barely eyeball it. It’s very thin very black but it’s all mine!
Here’s the Walker.

Well done on the buttons and silver. Read a few articles over the decades about the buttons, fascinating history behind them.

THAT is the holy grail of west coast buttons. there is a lot of research on those and groups dedicated to tracking them. Very nice indeed and found where it should have been too...context is perfect!

Agreed! There was a huge Chinook Indian village a stones throw from there back in the early 1800s and before. Lewis and Clark camped less than half a mile away. I’m officially addicted to water hunting!

these are often associated with burials and Chinook burials were often canoe burials placed high and associated with water...insignificant coastal or river islets.

Ok, need some help in identifying this if possible. Back down on the river where those buttons came from

Top picture has a wreath around the edge of coin 181?
Bottom picture looks like shillings?

i have to head out for a few days but if you would take pix and post them with the letters and numbers turned so that they can be read right side up, that would help. Also, put it next to a quarter or other coin that is similar in size. in the mean time... this site is a lot of fun to search. There are not a lot of coins that have the date centered on the bottom under a line of design, with a sheave of wheat around the rim with no words between the rim and the wheat.
