I have been doin a job nearby passing by a very old looking house that appeared to be vacant. After a month I decided to get the street name and #. I went to the tax record site and found a name of who owned the house. Then checked the name in the phone book.Im in Maryland, he lives in Virginia.I called this morning to get permission and he said "sure, you can detect there".So I went for 2 hours today.I dug 3 quarters,2 nickles,6 dimes, and 4 pennies.2 pennies were 1964,1 was a 1955(no doubling) :( and 1 was a 1909(no S VDB) :(. Im sure theres good stuff to be dug here as the recods show that it was built in 1807.I took a couple of pics of the site. Also a pic of the wheats ,1909 is my oldest wheat so far.I got real excited when washing and saw the date, then looked again and again for the S and VDB thru the 10x loop. Also for doubling on the 55 but no luck.It was very thrilling though and a great time.Oh yea, I almost forgot, check out the cement pond filled in .LOL

Thanx for lookin, jimmy

It looks like getting permission there was worth the effort.
There has to be something good in that front yard.
Good luck!

Thanks for the post and nice site! Good luck when you get back there and HH, Mike

WTG! That's a great old house with nearly 200 years of history for you to unearth.
Congrats on the Wheat cents.I think you would of darn near dropped dead if they were what you hoped they would be. That would of been the find of a lifetime.
The pictures were excellent.Great post! Best of luck to you on future hunts at that site. HH!

Man! I wouldn't be going anywhere else for awile!! What an awesome house! Good luck!

Looks like a great site to me. Keep us posted. Work the sidewalks good and any paths you find going from building to building. These are the areas where most of the traffic would have been and the more traffic the greater chance of dropped items. there's lot to be found at a place as old as that.. HH

I would be crawling under the porch to detect there, that's where a kid could have stashed something interesting...

LOL! I thought the same thing ,unfortunately under penned it with rat wire. The man gave me permission to hunt the grounds.Im not takin anything apart or going in any of the buildings.Dont want to jeopardize a good thing or catch a B&E charge.Happy with what I got.Should be plenty there.
