Had a great visit to New Mexico to detect with Jimzz977 and Dan (NM) - great guys and it was excellent detecting. I found this 1820s to 40s US button and an eagle button. Another eagle button was in really bad shape. Also, many period bullets and a piece of an epaulet for the shoulders. They also gave me a bunch of WWI era buttons from a different site, and this WWII dog tag found in Texas. Would be great to return it to the family if anyone can find out. I did some initial research and the soldier Ewell T Moore may have been from Kentucky, but I can't be sure. Any hellp appreciated! Rotated the photos and they are still sideways, oh well...

Nice glad u had good time it was pleasure hunting with u , congrats on ur finds, lots more to be found there. Nice to find that family to return to. Good luck.

Nice finds. Congratulations

My guess is he had a brother, Elwood J. Moore who also enlisted in 1943 with a serial number very close to Ewell's:
35799469 vs. 35804419. Elwood enlisted in Cincinnati; just across the river from Kentucky.
Don......
PS: Elwood was from Goshen, Ohio, just outside of Cincy. He was also a member of American Legion Post 179 in Blanchester, another town near Cincy. You may wish to check with that Post for info Re: your guy . (Elwood passed away in 2004.)

BTW, the '35' in the service number indicates the conscript was drafted into the Army from either Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia, or Indiana.

Cool finds! I don’t get a lot of old military relics. They are neat!

I think the T43 is tetanus shot in 1943. Cool find. Gary
