I'm new to metal detecting and when I say new, I mean like 1 month new. I was out detecting in a random patch of woods near where I live. I just wanted to get away from popular areas where new coins would be found and there would be no trash. 30 minutes into the dig I found an old can lid, 5 feet from that was an old bent horseshoe, 2 feet from that was another old horseshoe, and finally about a foot away from that was an 1821 capped bust dime. Like I said I'm new and I had no idea what it was at the time. Glad I spent the time to research and ask around after because now I know how uncommon it is! Just thought I'd share it with everyone and see if it really is as uncommon and nice as others have said! :)

Awesome !!!!!

Congrats on a nice find! It appears to be the "Large Date" variation of the 1821 Bust Dime but I do not know which JR- Variety it is. It is ashame that someone either punched something through it or it happened by accident!
