Found this 1833 large cent today. Has some weird punch marks on the back. Any ideas what this could mean? Any help is appreciated. Thanks again! image.webpimage.webp

With that little tit in the middle of those holes a nail set comes to mind.

GOD Bless

I think it means someone was bored in the mid 1800s

Congrats on the LC someone had too much time on their hands

From what I've learned, a hole in the center indicates it use as a washer. Common for a farmer to do that instead of a days travel to town and lose man hours. I have LCs and half cents with that. The "punch" marks could be several attempts gone awry.

I've used quarters for washers when I needed that 'squeeze' to prevent high pressure leaks.
