I'm not very good at finding things about my finds. I found this yesterday.

1 Real - Mexico – Numista

I can't find a value, or how many were minted? Would love to learn a history on this series?

Thanks in advance for any info/help
Brad

The coin is more than likely a 2 Reales, minted in Mexico. It is worth around $10 in that condition, but to you it is probably priceless. May I ask the weight of it?

It is a 1 real, I have not weighed it yet I won't be home until much later, have to search for more! :-)

It's a 1R minted in Zacatecas, Mexico.
The series ran from 1826 through 1869 though no 1Rs from Zacatecas were minted in the years 1863 through 1867.
It was a common coin; no doubt many were minted. The 1R has a diameter of 20mm and the 2R has a diameter of 27mm.
Don......

Thanks Don

Yeah, I hadn't noticed the Zacatecas mint mark on it. Mexico City never made a 1 Real that year, so that's why I thought it was a two real. There were quite a few minted, and the value on your coin is not that great, $7 at the most, but I'll bet you're still happy with it.

I like it, thanks. Since I have started this hobby I'm still amazed at the values on coins. I have even found rare coins (low mints, rare varieties) that are worth what I think, next to nothing. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Regardless of value that's a neat find to add to your collection.

I'm on a closed group on facebook, a young Veteren who teaches at the Alamo in Texas wants to buy it. I'm thinking of giving it a new home. I'm struggling with it because it is so cool, I might have to wait for awhile. I think more people might enjoy it if I give it to him.

How much is he offering? If it is $10 or more, take it. You won't have an offer like that for many more years.
