Good Morning All- Had some time for a quick hunt this morning, and was fortunate to dig a 1837 half dime. It wasn't a great signal, but gave off enough of a squeak, that I had to see what it was. The coin itself is in rough shape, and has an odd milky color to it. Not sure what would cause that. Anyway...I'm still very excited with this find. Thanks for taking a look.

HOLY :censored::censored: droolin' :hello2:

It looks as though the coin survived a fire; nonetheless, a Capped Bust coin is a great day! :icon_thumleft:

Congrats....
Wish I was still up there, digging up old stuff.

Very nice old silver coin. The detail looks fine but, that milky white"patina" is weird? Either way I'd still be STOKED ! Great hunt there buddy.:headbang:

I think fire could account for the blisters on the surfaces and the patina ,nice find !!

Really good day when you score an early US half dime .
IMHO , Headphones are the only hope for most diggers to hear these " tiny " coins . :munky2: your name , good choice, ha ha

Beautiful old silver. It's in nice shape too..

Congratualtions on the beautiful half dime! :occasion14:

Great coin! Still looked for a capped silver. Hopefully soon

Amazing find!! Capped bust silver is on a lot of people's bucket list including mine! Well done! Congrats and HH

Very cool find! On my bucket list for sure. The coin has great detail. I wonder if the "blistering" is just uneven mineral coating or actual damage to the silver coin, like pitting on a copper coin? I had a Barber quarter with a perfect gray coating like yours and after doing the baking soda on tinfoil method (maybe 2 dozen times) the gray material eventually came off revealing a beautiful silver coin.(mine wasn't a key date or anything special) However if the blisters are actually a form of pitting this would probably ruin the coin.
