OK, now that you've looked I have to be honest & tell you that I didnt dig these awesome coins up...............they were given to me by my father who has collected coins since he was a kid! When I was young I remember he always looked through his pocket change for wheaties, he just told me that he has looked closely at every single coin he has ever had since he was about 8 years old! Obsesive old fart, eh? And we all thought he was crazy! He dug out his collection & we looked through it, he gave me many other coins as well, bunch of Liberty nickels, roll of old wheats etc but I fell in love with this large cent! Oldest coin in my small but growing collection! Now, if I could only dig one up Id be happy as all hell!
Also gave me this gold plated 1883 Liberty nickel (also called Racketeer Nickel), for those that dont know, the back didnt say "cents" so many dishonest people put a thin layer of gold on em & passed em off as $5 gold peices! This only worked for a few months before the mints added "cents" to the back. Not worth a lot but I think its a prety cool coin!
